Finaly got the wee 400 on the road. All sorted with the aid of Helicoil . Had to rethread two engine bolt holes to get the toque up to 32nm. Only thing still not sorted is a 6mm thread in the barrel section for the exhaust studs to screw into, i over drilled and the holes a little to big :-/. Next and last job to fill and re-drill. Runs fine if a little noisy but no leaks! Whoo hoo! Has a slight BSA sound to it as it is. Might just leave it that way?!. Brummmmm a brum brum |

After some thought and consideration, im going to go for a Patch Up option on the CB400N engine. If i patch up a small area with weld, front and back it should contain the oil and solve the problem.. Only worry is it will stop cool air getting to the inside of the barrel casing. Still. at only 24 miles per day, this wee fella aint gonna get to hot, or that's the theory anyway. |

Dismantled the CB400N engine today.. The problem aint with the gasket or Casing! Its a hole the long bolts from the Head go into.. One of them needs re-threading. Can't get the toque up, it keeps spinning! so the engine oil is seeping down this one bolt and out onto the engine.. SO its of to the local metal working dude with the bottom of the engine. I've been told its no major or expensive job.. Here's hoping :-/ |

I got my hands on a old CB400N today.. As the Bike is my only means of transport, this little run around will give me the chance to get my Triumph in the garage and get it show room clean again.. First things first tho...The CB400N has either a blown Head Gasket of a small crack in the engine head. I don't really expect any real troubles sorting it. I have some new "alloy weld" & "Gasket paste" on the way to my door. I think ill document this little venture for the Tech/Advice page... |

Welcome to the new all blog section.. Sad news to start off. I dropped my 900cc beast today! i say dropped. it was more a laying down.. At walking pace i misplaced my footing enough to loose balance.. Bike tipped to the right and when it goes, it goes. Good news tho, only damage is a scuff to the paint on the fork, leaking banjo bolt, slightly bent peg and a little dent to the pride.. I take this quote from a forum i saw recently written by Madjack " There's 3 kinds of riders, those that HAVE dropped their bike, those that WILL drop their bike and those that LIE about it!!" . It gives me some comfort knowing most of us have been there.. |
